Lightroom 1.0 is ready for Immediate Use!

That’s right; Adobe finally released it out of its beta version. The National Association of Photoshop Professionals is already putting together some tutorials for the software as well as a new Lightroom learning center. John Nack, an Adobe blogger, notes some key items about the product.

  • Lightroom 1.0 will be sold for $299 USD. We recognize the investment users have made in Adobe tools, including the time invested by the more than 500,000 people who downloaded the beta. To say thanks, Adobe will be offering a one time introductory price of $199 that ends April 30th.
  • It will not be bundled or packaged with Photoshop CS3 or the Creative Suite.
  • French and German versions of Lightroom 1.0 will be available at the end of February. Introductory price of 174 Euros until June 28th, after which the standard pricing 249 Euros.
  • A Japanese version will be available at the end of March. Introductory pricing of 22,000 Yen runs until July 23rd, after which the app costs 32,000 Yen.

Adobe Labs to the Rescue

With all things print becoming digital I find myself saving off ebooks/pdfs on a weekly basis, and it’s beginning to create a lot of clutter on my computer. Adobe just launched a freeware PDF/eBook reader and library manager! Perfect!

Adobe Digital Editions is a completely new way to read and manage eBooks and other digital publications. Digital Editions is built from the ground up as a lightweight, rich Internet application (RIA). Digital Editions works online and offline, and supports both PDF and XHTML-based content.

If you need a Mac version Cheap Mac Apps has good one.
