The Value I Get from Twitter …

I like to try all the new social media tools and networks, even if I may not find substantial use for them. For instance, this weekend I will be trying out Kaneva, now that it has officially gone live. Thanks to Greg for posting about it.

With Twitter, I loved the idea, and then I started to use it. Man, I was depressed reading my feed! For some reason, work, school, and running just seemed boring. Real shocker. I even put a widget for it on my MySpace page when I first started using it, thinking my friends may want to try it out. After realizing I was getting much out of it, I decided to abandon Twitter having given it a good shot. Then recently, my number one source for news, the New York Times, launched a feed on it! (Cnet just launched one too). I like to think that they are cutting edge; they would have to be to keep such amazing writers. They never seem afraid to jump out of the traditional newspaper box. So, I’ve decided to give Twitter another chance. It’s easy enough. Takes me about 2 seconds to update. It’s slightly like Facebook’s feed yet less stalker like since I’m writing in what I’m doing instead of them telling everyone without my permission. I’ve pulled the RSS feeds from innovative adopters such as Scoble and Rubel in my reader, as well as my favorite news sources. Anyone else have some tips? I’ve subscribed to the feed on all things Twitter but am afraid I’m still missing something I would find a lot of value from.
